Can a region add a church or remove a church in the directory?

The Churches Directory in ALEX serves as the legal listing of congregations affiliated with the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in the United States and Canada. This is the same purpose that was previously served by the Statistical Report of Congregations in the printed Yearbook and Directory of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Congregations listed in the directory participate in the General Assembly's 501(c)(3) group exemption and are able to nominate three voting delegates to the General Assembly.

Because of the legal nature of the listing, only ALEX Administrators can add or remove congregations. In compliance with paragraph 9 of The Design, the Office of the General Minister and President only adds or removes a congregation when instructed by a region.

To request the addition or removal of a congregation, a region submits a Congregation Change Form.
